Frequently Asked Questions

What is the "Service Obligation" (SO)?
It is a contractual agreement. If you accept the "Tuition Grant" (subsidized fees) from the Singapore government, you legally agree to work for a Singapore-registered company for 3 years after you graduate.
Can I settle in Singapore?
Yes, but it is competitive. The typical path is: Student Pass -> Employment Pass (EP) or S-Pass (Job) -> Permanent Residency (PR). Holding a degree from a top local university (NUS/NTU) improves your PR chances.
Is accommodation expensive?
Yes. Singapore is a premium city. On-campus housing (dormitories) is the cheapest option but limited. Off-campus HDB rentals or shared condos can cost S$800 - S$1,500 per month.
