Frequently Asked Questions

How difficult is the US Student Visa (F1)?
It involves an interview at the US Embassy. The officer checks three things: 1) You are a genuine student, 2) You have the money to pay for it, and 3) You have "intent to return" to India. With proper preparation, the success rate is high.
Can I settle in the US permanently?
The student visa is non-immigrant. However, after your OPT work period, many companies sponsor the H1-B work visa. This is a dual-intent visa that can eventually lead to a Green Card (Permanent Residency).
What is a "Community College"?
These are 2-year colleges that are much cheaper. Many students do 2 years here and then transfer to a big university for the final 2 years to complete their degree. It saves a lot of money!
